It Was Just A Dream

Image
I heard a sweet sound  it was my old mothers’ voice, a glimmer of happiness shone but alas it was a dream. As a tender melody played  I remembered my childhood days, I felt my mother’s kiss  But it was just a dream. She embraced me with much longing As she wiped my misty eyes,  But my tears would not stop Ah why was it just a dream. Poem written by S. Compared to Your Eyes

Image
Compared to your eyes my eyes are sightless, Your soul, an impenetrable gloom, In your dark gaze a subtle lie, Hiding you always a fine shroud…  Closed and remote is your heart to me, Tied forever to you yet a stranger still With insane pleasure I worship you I love you and yet not know you. Closed and remote is your heart to me, Compared to your eyes my eyes are sightless, Hiding you always a fine shroud, Who are you? Who? — I shall never know… Translated from Armenian By Armineh Amirian Zohrabian Poem by Vahan Derian 1904-1905

Burry Me When...

Image
Burry me, when the last red twilight fades When the dying suns’ caresses Sets the silvery mountaintops ablaze, When land and sea are lost in darkness. Burry me when the gloomy dusk is falling, When the  joyous   sounds of the day are hushed When the sunbeams die, flowers slumber When hills and fields vanish in darkness Scatter wilting flowers on my grave so they die in serenity and peace Burry me without tears without words Silence,  silence, eternal  silence.  Poem by Vahan Derian 1905 Translated From Armenian By Armineh Amirian Zohrabian Photo By Armineh A.Z. NOTHING

We are all nothing.  Our Earth, all there is on the surface, beneath, in the oceans,  All nothing. All there is, is the cosmos.  The galaxies, the stars, the infinite space, that’s all there is, Vast and unreachable.  We seek with our feeble instruments, with our minuscule knowledge  Yet we still don’t comprehend. We don’t know, who and what created it all, or why. The Earth is just a speck of dust in this unbound universe.  We are all nothing, all that came before us and all that will come after,  Nothing, all so insignificant.   Yet, humans have created civilizations, art, industries, knowledge, history.   We know life is precious, alluring, fragile and fleeting but we still love it  And cling to it.  In our endless ways, we strive to give meaning to it.   We create beauty, life, love and happiness. We love our home,  This m...

I Am Nowhere

I’m sitting here Without my head My hands cut off My feet are gone My heart torn from my chest My blood is shed I’m scattered I’m here  I’m there I'm  everywhere  I am nowhere  I am every human that's been killed Ever in any war. 02-11-2001

CHARISSE

Image
Before you came I loved her, Like I love you now. Her love filled my heart  To overflowing,  I was bursting with happiness.  And then came you... Sweet as wild honey, Soft as silk. Like a miracle  My heart exploded again with unbound love what utter fortune had befall me? You are still a little human But you are you,  already. When you fancy something,  You are fierce, adamant. High spirited like your sister. Bright and ernest Fiery and irrepressible.  I love all that you are All that you will become Always and forever And absolute.

Music For My Soul

Music tugs at my heart,   It brakes it. Brings tears to my eyes It pierces my soul.  I fall to my knees An idol worshiper.   I regrat forgetting   I repent My ignorance. With music I'm  ecstatic I feel alive  I want to  Run recklessly  To drown  In the waives  In the torrent   Of emotions that befall me.

Infatuation

Your smile was the sun picking through the clouds after rain. Your shimmering eyes  were the droplets  on the rainbow. Your hair was gold your voice soft, your parted lips your wet smile, the rising heat from your chest setting fire to my tinderbox of a heart. *******

ON PAUSE FOR SPRING

Image
Gloom is sitting on my window sill desolation covers the shelves like dust books are waiting to be read paint brushes dry  Flowers  wilting emptiness all around.  Spring is so far away  the wind chimes sing incessantly  Weeping gray skies  barren trees Can't bear this melancholy I want Spring to come.

I Should Have Known

I speak with honesty  give my love my loyalty my devotion my benevolence believing I would earn the same in return. My eyes alone can't see into people's souls I can listen yet  I may not hear what they say miss the words between the lines. People built walls wear shields not to get hurt not to share it's less painful uncomplicated. I stand unprotected  no walls around me I wear no veil  my shield is my skin nowhere to hide no secrets to keep. Now I lay wounded bruised insulted broken hearted. I should have known  I should have  but I didn't.

SHINE BRIGHTLY MY SUPER NOVA

Image
My little darling My treasured gem My Nova. I know you are not mine, You belong to no one, You are your own  Lord and master.         Like a beautiful Mustang Free spirited and wild Yet so refined.  Even at your tender age You are precocious  But wide eyed Hungry for learning. You can spin tales better than Disney    Whose princess stories fascinate you so. Skyrocket my little star, But don't change, Stay free. Don't ever let anyone or anything Corral the Mustang in you.   Hunger and thirst  For wisdom and knowledge. What god bestowed the gift That is you, on me? Every time I see you I become richer Fulfilled  At peace.  My love for you is immeasurable. Purple is Nova's favorite color.

THERE IS NO GLORY IN MARTYRDOM ANYMORE

Image
Mothers,  don't tell your sons to be soldiers when they grow, Fathers,  don't ask your sons to pick up your gun, To fight your wars, They don't want to inherit your enemies. Stop the cycle End the killing Much blood has been shed by now. Teach your children that we are one Teach them to share this Earth, Be tolerant and compassionate  So they learn to do the same For their fellow human beings, Teach them respect for life. Love them so they can love themselves And others. We don't need more martyrs There is no glory in martyrdom anymore. Armine Amirian Zohrabian March 03, 2013 There is no glory in martyrdom anymore

I Am A tree

Image
Could I be a tree? To stand silently, My roots drinking life, In the dark damp earth. Just an eyewitness? Showing no passion? Swaying in the wind Bending to and fro in assent or dissent? Would I be happy just to look majestic? Bare my branches and soul every autumn? Could I be a swallow flying high? Making a new nest each spring? To leave it empty and broken each fall? Teaching my offspring to fly To never see them again? Could I be a river, twisting and turning? Around each rock, each mountain? Rushing to the sea to become whole And loose myself? I am a tree, A swallow, A river. I bare my soul in the winter of life Rushing to the abyss Losing love, losing myself To become one with nature… Armine Amirian Zohrabian February 21, 2013

You Are Back Again What Shall I Do (Do Noritz Yegel Es Inch Anem?)

Image
You came back again, what shall I do? I’ve loved your spirit so, You've bound me with your endless gaze And enchanted me with your allure. I loved you for so very long, And secretly cried for you, Love you? Love you to what end? My eyes are misty even now. You don’t know what to do, who to love You’re wild, a wild heavenly girl I loved you like a crazy fool But I never had love from you You’re crazy, a crazy girl, but now You’ve come back again, what shall I do? I’ve become an unwilling crazy too. I'll love you again, what else can I do? My eyes are still drowned in tears. Kiss Me One Last Time (Mara Bebbos)

Image
Kiss me, Kiss me for one last time. God keep you unharmed I’m going to my destiny.  Our spring has passed, What‘s past is past. I’m going in search of fate Into the storms Risking life Through the tempest I’ll go. I have a tryst At midnight With my lover To set ablaze the mountain tops. I will journey this dark night Will pass many dark roads. Look my blossom Don’t mourn for me. Beautiful girl, I will be your guest tonight I’ll be with you So you can put your lips on mine.   bewitching  girl, The spark in your eyes, The tears in your eyes Will light my way tonight. Kiss me Kiss me one last time. Translated from Farsi By Armine Amirian Zohrabian

Don't Love Black Eyes

Be fearful of black eyes They are an endless night,  Dark is terror, full of demons, Don’t love black eyes. Look, my heart is a sea of blood, Demons struck a blow, From then on, I have no peace, Don’t love black eyes.  Poem by: Av. Isahakian Translated from Armenian By: Armine Amirian Zohrabian January 29, 2013

To Forget

Image
To forget to forget everything,  To forget everyone,  Not to love, not to think, no regrets  get away... This tormenting, oppressive pain  In such unlit night  Is there a dusk of oblivion?  A golden ray of light?  Leave everyone one moment,  And forget all of them  In darkness, in pain,  paralyzed All alone...  To forget  to forget everything  And forget everyone  Not to love, to hunger, nor to dream And just leave... Poem by Vahan Derian 1908 Translated from Armenian  by Armine Amirian Zohrabian January 27, 2013

I love your guilty profound eyes

Image
I love your guilty profound eyes Mysterious like the night, Your guilty, secretive dark eyes Like an enchanting dusk. Sin quivers in that endless sea Like a springtime night, In your eyes a tender memory Intoxication’s golden dust. A silent beacon to the lost Your soul torturing eyes, Your vampy savage eyes I love Like a spring twilight. Poem by Vahan Derian 1904-1905 Translated by: Armine Amirian Zohrabian January 21, 2013

Myriad Roads

I don’t know where the distant Ribbons of myriad roads will take me, I sit by the path every day And pray, and grieve for you. And in my wonderings, who knows, Perhaps one day you’ll appear luminous, Perhaps you’ll smile with silvery words And shine a light of joy on my darkness. The snakelike twisted far away The multitude of roads call me. Where are you mystical sunrise, When we meet again one brilliant day.
